Chest and Heart on the move

Wednesday 27 March 2019

Guernsey's Chest and Heart organisation has temporarily moved while the unit at Rue Mignot, near the hospital, undergoes a major facelift.

The charitable service, which will celebrate its 45th anniversary in November, has carried out nearly 80,000 screenings since it started offering free health checks for local residents.

"We have exciting plans for the interior of our Oberlands premises in St Martin's that, subject to planning permission, we look forward to revealing shortly," said Chairman Dr Stephen Roper.

In the meantime, patients should head to Stan Brouard in Landes du Marche where the service has relocated for the time being.

"We are extremely fortunate that Stan Brouard were kind enough to loan us this considerable office space free of charge so that we can continue to offer this vital free service to support the health and wellbeing of islanders," added Dr Roper.

Screening for respiratory and circulatory diseases as a preventative measure is the organisation's main area of activity, along with testing for diabetes and offering recommendations for healthy lifestyle changes.

The service is open from 08:30 to 12:30 Monday to Friday and appointments can be made by calling the organisation's new temporary telephone number 258876.
