From making a bug hotel to going on a bunker tour, Castle Cornet is offering a range of activities for families on staycation this month.
The museum is taking on a different theme each week to keep children entertained throughout the summer, given that many off-island trips are still restricted by self-isolation requirements.
There will be themed trails exploring different parts of the castle, self-hosted craft activities, storytelling, living history performances and special guest appearances.
The themes of the weeks are:
Knights and princesses - 6 to 9 August
Weapons and warfare - 13 to 16 August
Medieval life - 20 to 23 August
Wild castle (exploring gardens, nature and wildlife) - 27 to 30 August
"There is no cafe at the castle this year due to exciting renovation works, so we encourage visitors to bring a picnic and enjoy a few hours in magnificent surroundings," suggested Jo Dowding, Access & Learning Manager for Guernsey Museums.
"It's been wonderful to see visitors joining in the theme with fancy dress too."
Throughout 2020, the castle will only be open from Thursday to Sunday between 10:00 and 15:00, and entrance is free to Discovery Pass holders and accompanying children.
