Castle Cornet opens early, to cast a spell over visitors!

Friday 16 February 2018

A Harry Potter themed event is being held at Castle Cornet this weekend, as the attraction opens early, ahead of the schools' half term break.

The gates opened on Friday 16 February, with staff busy preparing for visitors on Saturday 17 February as the Castle is expected to be busy with young Harry Potter fans and their families.

"The Castle of Witchcraft & Wizardry" will feature "lots of exciting things to see and do" with different characters from Harry Potter at activities around the Castle. There'll be a hunt for horcruxes, spells lessons and we can have a go at quidditch.

All children and adults visiting the Castle on Saturday 17 February are invited to pick up a coloured ribbon which will place them in one of the Hogwart's houses, or you can let the sorting hat decide. Visitors will be invited to enter an article in the Quibbler and be able to make their own Spectrespecs.

Castle staff say: "dressing up is encouraged and there’ll be a facepainter too."

Some staff from Guille-Allès Library will be at Castle Cornet for the afternoon "bringing alive the Harry Potter stories with storytelling and extra activities."

The Harry Potter event runs from 12:00 until 15:30pm with the Castle gates closing at 16:00. All five Castle museums and the shop will be open, but there will be no tours or noonday gun and the café will not be open, however a limited selection of refreshments will be available.

Normal admission applies, with free entry for Discovery Pass holders.

The Harry Potter theme will continue into the half term week, with "hosted craft activities" in the Castle daily from Monday to Friday, between 12:00 and 14:00, for children aged 5 and over. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Castle Cornet will initially be open between 10:00 and 15:00, seven days a week but will reopen fully on Friday 23 March with the first noonday gun of the season.
