Brand new GHA properties open for viewing today

Saturday 02 February 2019

Anyone who is interested in seeing what the GHA has been building can go to its newest development in St Saviours today, to view several properties at Courtil Reveaux.

Just opposite the Coachhouse Gallery on Les Islet Arsenal, the development has five properties for partial ownership sale and four properties available for rent.

The properties are part of the Guernsey Housing Association's partial ownership scheme which gives buyers the chance to buy between 40% and 80% of a home, with the remaining equity being held by the GHA and rented to the occupant at a discounted rate. The initiative is designed to help those who cannot afford to buy their own home to get on the housing ladder.

The properties at Courtil Reveaux have already been allocated to residents from the GHA’s waiting list but the open day has been set up to give the public a chance to see the quality of homes the GHA is building for islanders for themselves.

The site will be open to the public from 10:00 to 12:00 this morning with two one-bedroom apartments and two three-bedroom houses available for viewing.

Some of the development is built over an existing German command centre and access has been left through a manhole in a rear garden. Festung Guernsey will be allowing people to see it but visitors are advised to be prepared for a climb down a tunnel and to not wear their smartest clothes.

Anyone interested in the GHA’s partial ownership scheme should complete the application form on GHA’s website at gha.gg or call the GHA office on 245530 for a form. Eligible applicants will be placed on a waiting list; the waiting time to be allocated a property has reduced and is two-to-three years depending on the type of property and location required.
