Be warned - Forest Road is closing!

Sunday 10 March 2019

If you need to go anywhere near Guernsey Airport this week, you might want to make some extra time for your journey as some work is being carried out on Forest Road.

The busy main road is due to be shut between Monday 11 March and Sunday 16 March, with work focusing on the road near Le Chene Hotel.

With the road closed from the traffic lights on the hill to the Forest Road Garage, diversions have been put in place but some queues and delays can be expected.

Traffic heading from the Airport towards St Peter Port will be diverted at Le Chene Hill through La Soucique Lane and then through a route taking you towards Le Vauquidor and the Mount Row Traffic Signals.

Traffic heading from the Airport towards St Martin will also be diverted at Le Chene Hill through La Soucique Lane, and towards La Planque Lane before rejoining the route at Les Cornus.

Traffic heading from Town towards the Airport will be diverted at the Mount Row Traffic Signals, through St Andrew, and Les Blicqs as far as Le Chene Hill where they will then be able to turn right towards the Airport.

Traffic heading from St Martin towards the Airport will be diverted at the Longue Rue Traffic Signals as far as Mount Row, where they then join the diversion route through St Andrew and Les Blicqs as above.

With so many diversions in place, Traffic and Highways Services have made a number of roads one way and have set temporary speed limits of 20mph. This includes Rue des Agneaux which will be one-way from La Soucique Lane to Chemin Le Roi crossroads, and the Chemin Le Roi, Les Moulpieds and Les Planques will be one-way from Chemin Le Roi crossroads towards Les Cornus.

Both businesses on the road, Forest Road Garage and Channel Island's Ceramics will be open throughout the work with diversion signs giving customers access.

Anyone who lives on Forest Road, can access their property via Les Cornus. Vehicles will be able to turn from Les Cornus into Le Bequet Lane, but not along La Planque.

The work near Le Chene traffic lights is being done by Guernsey Electricity, Guernsey Gas and Sure Telecoms which are all carrying out works at a number of properties in the road.
