Louis Jean has joined the Islanders Association, saying he is "proud to support it."
The States of Alderney Representative who sits on the States of Guernsey is the latest politician to join the organisation which was launched last month by Deputies Carl Meerveld, Peter Ferbrache and Joe Mooney.
Deputies Barry Paint and John Gollop have also joined the Association with Mr Jean following them saying he wants "to help develop and promote its efforts to fundamentally improve the functions and effectiveness of our Government."
The Alderney Representative added "The Islanders Association is looking forward, intending to develop a better future, and as a Bailiwick resident, I am proud to support it.
"I see this association as an extension of the Charter 2018 initiative, designed to produce a more effective and efficient government in the next political term following the 2020 general election."
The Association has made some of its aims clear already, one being its plan to field candidates in the next election. Mr Jean said he wants to support the Association as it also looks Bailiwick-wide: "I am glad the association is looking Bailiwick-wide, to include views and support from Alderney residents."
Mr Jean is a fourth generation Channel Islander who was first elected to the States of Alderney in 1988 and is now in his 18th year as States Member there.
First chosen as an Alderney representative in Guernsey's States of Deliberation in the early 90s, he is in the sixth year of his second stint, chosen in an island-wide plebiscite.
The Association said Mr Jean "fervently believes in collaboration between the two States to further economic development in both islands and sees the improvement of air and sea links as being of paramount importance" with Mr Jean adding: "We are two islands’ but a single economy and we need to work together to serve not only the interests of today's islanders but to lay the foundations for the next generation to thrive in this special place."
