Air show 2018: all the info you need

Thursday 13 September 2018

Today's weather promises to be a bit fairer than yesterday's, and with that, 2018's air display is expected to go ahead as planned.

Organisers said they were hoping the forecast stays true bringing weather described as ‘fair with long sunny periods, especially in the afternoon.’

The confirmed line‐up for the 2018 Guernsey Air Display and the programme timings as released on Wednesday afternoon, are as follows:

This confirmed line‐up can be viewed at guernseyairdisplay.com and any changes will be announced on social media via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and by searching for Guernsey Air Display.

Guernsey Harbours have also issued instructions to local mariners ahead of the much anticipated show.

Boat owners are being urged to stay well clear of the controlled zone area which will be operating in the Little Russel during the air show.

During the air display, entry and exit from St Peter Port Harbour will be strictly controlled.

Boats and ships can only leave or enter St Peter Port and St Sampson’s with the permission of Guernsey Port Control on VHF Channel 12.

Guernsey Harbours is requesting boat owners do not go out to sea to view the display. Those who do so should remain outside the controlled zone. This area will be patrolled, by the RNLI Spirit of Guernsey lifeboat, the St John Flying Christine marine ambulance, the Sarnia workboat, and the Guernsey Sea Fisheries patrol vessel the Leopardess.

The full instructions are found in the Local Notices to Mariners LMTM 014/2018 issued by Guernsey Harbours on its website harbours.gg under the ‘Coastguard and Navigation’ tab.

The emphasis of this year’s Guernsey Air Display is the RAF centenary and where possible, aircraft with a direct connection with, or a history of being part of, the RAF will be displaying in the skies above St Peter Port.

The Guernsey Air Display is the pinnacle of Guernsey’s Battle of Britain Week that culminates in a church service at the Town Church, St Peter Port on Sunday 16 September 2018.
