Air Display warning over scammers

Wednesday 13 September 2023

Scammers have tried to hijack the 2023 Air Display by posting links advertising fake livestreams of the event.

The organisers have confirmed that there is not an official livestream of the display on Thursday lunchtime and any posts advertising one are fake.

The Air Display is free to watch from any public space with a view towards St Peter Port Harbour where the show takes place.

BBC Guernsey will be providing live commentary which is also free to listen to.

The scammers often share links to the fake live streaming of events as comments on Facebook posts. They may then ask for payment details.

The Island Games were similarly targeted by scammers earlier this year, with the organisers and police warning people to take extra caution when following any of the events online.
