Extra support for EU Nationals

Friday 30 October 2020

The Immigration & Nationality Office will be open on Saturday to assist any EU, EEA or Swiss nationals who have not yet enrolled in the EU Settled Nationals Scheme.

The scheme has been in place since 1 April 2019, and is required for EU nationals who wish to remain in the Bailiwick after the UK leaves the EU in January 2021.

Affected citizens’ rights will continue as they are until then, after which the Settlement Scheme will allow them ongoing access to healthcare, work arrangements and public services.

“With Brexit approaching, it is important that those EU, EEA or Swiss nationals resident in the Bailiwick who have not already registered under the EU Settlement Scheme do so without delay,” said Lorraine Coupland, Immigration & Nationality Manager.

“The Immigration & Nationality Office, situated at the Passport Office, will be opening to the public on Saturday 31 October from 10am-2pm to accept applications and provide advice.

“We would encourage every employer to publicise the scheme to their staff. The scheme is free, and the application process is quick and easy.”

The deadline for registration has been extended to 30 June 2021.
