30ft fall lands a man in hospital

Friday 30 March 2018

A man is recovering after falling 30ft from a ladder at the Crown Pier.

He suffered a head injury in the incident in the early hours of Friday 30 March.

St John Ambulance and Rescue Service was called out just after 01:00 to the east side of the Crown Pier.

The victim was lying on the beach where he had landed after falling from the ladder.

He was treated on the scene before a turn table was used to move him to an ambulance so he could be taken to the Emergency Department at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

Additional members of staff had to be called in to help as St John dealt with this incident, and other routine call outs on Thursday night. Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service were also called to assist with moving the casualty.
