14 novice chefs will battle it out in Shaun Rankin’s Kitchen Inferno at the Highlands Academy Restaurant on November 7th 2013, raising money for Jersey Cheshire Home. Will they stand the heat?

LAUNCH PRESS CALL:

Shaun Rankin will be holding a Master Class to launch the event for a few of the team members (Kevin Pamplin, Sophia Bird, Derek Warwick, Ben Davies & David Lord) on Monday 14th October 2013 at Ormer at 10am. The press are invited to attend for interviews and take photos/footage.

Shaun Rankin, Chef Proprietor, Ormer Restaurant: “Kitchen Inferno is going to be a challenging, exciting and unpredictable event! I am going to be working all the contestants hard so that they deliver to the diners on the night; if their dishes are not up to scratch they will not be making it over the Pass. It really is no mean feat cooking three courses for a dining room of people, especially as novices. I expect highs and lows from all team members and I believe it will be teamwork that will eventually bring them through it. I am very proud to be involved in this special event for Jersey Cheshire Home and look forward to meeting all the diners and helping to raise valuable funds on the night.”

The much-anticipated event is already a sell-out, but there are two tickets up for grabs that will go to the highest bidder. Bids must start at £100 a ticket. To place your silent bid email tickets@kitcheninferno.co.uk The closing date to place your bid is 5pm on Monday 21st October 2013.

Rob Veron, Managing Director, Blue Islands: “It’s great to be involved in such an exciting and unique event for such a worthy cause, not to mention being able to work alongside one of Jersey’s finest chefs, Shaun Rankin.  With a very enthusiastic team and what we hope is an enticing menu, I hope to lead the Blue Islands team to victory!”

Ian Campbell, Chief Executive Officer, Airtel-Vodafone: “Jersey Cheshire Home is a great charity, and I hope that this event will raise lots of money for it. We’re a competitive bunch at Airtel-Vodafone, and we’ve got a great team, so come on the reds let’s turn up the heat!”

On November 8th, 30 of the Island’s Business Leaders are taking part in a 5-day Trek in Kerala in India to raise money for the Jersey Cheshire Home. The Home, for severely disabled adults, costs £5000 per day to run so it relies heavily on local fundraising, as it is only part funded by the States of Jersey. Last time the trek in Iceland raised £80,000.

Money raised from Shaun Rankin’s Kitchen Inferno will go towards Le Masurier Managing Director Brian McCarthy’s Sponsorship. His efforts have already helped to raise over £15,000 so far this year for Jersey Cheshire Home.

Brian McCarthy, Managing Director, Le Masurier: “This very exciting event is the highlight of a year of fundraising on behalf of the Jersey Cheshire Home and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed so much. The trek is now imminent and we will all face both personal and physical challenges. However, these pale into insignificance when compared to those individuals who are physically disabled and, without the support of the Home, are unable to enjoy the same quality of life we take for granted”.
