PwC is delighted to come on board and sponsor the triathlon event at Jersey 2015. Taking place on the opening weekend of the Games, the triathlon consists of a continuous race starting with a 1,500 m swim in St Aubin’s Bay followed by a 40 km cycle, starting and finishing at Jardins de la Mare, and a final 10 km run.
Karl Hairon, Partner at PwC CI, commented: “It will be very exciting to watch all these triathletes’ hard work pay off, as they represent 17 different islands in what’s become one of the most interesting sports phenomena of the past few years.”
The Firm is also proud to have a number of its people, friends and family members from across the Channel Islands competing in Jersey 2015 in sports ranging from windsurfing to swimming, as well as having an official Waitrose Games Maker in its midst in the Jersey office.
Karl added, “One of PwC’s Corporate Responsibility goals is to make a difference in the Channel Islands’ communities, not just through financial support but by sharing time and knowledge. In doing so, PwC people also benefit from new skills, enhanced personal fulfilment and deeper local relationships. With this in mind, it’s great to see our people embrace these opportunities to get involved in such exciting sporting events within the local community and our PwC volunteers, from both Jersey and Guernsey, are looking forward to soaking up the atmosphere as they help out with the marshalling of the triathlon on the day."
Phil Austin, Chairman of the Jersey 2015 Organising Committee, said: “The triathlon takes place on day one of the Games’ sporting schedule, and will be a fantastic event. Not only will the quality of the competition be extremely high but, with Elizabeth Castle as the backdrop to the swim, the event will showcase the island brilliantly. We are really pleased to officially welcome PwC on to our panel of sponsors. Witnessing the triathletes compete over pedal power, swimming stokes and running strides promises to be an exciting start to what will be a spectacular week in Jersey.”
