Jersey Army Cadet Force will be holding a recruitment day at Grainville School this Saturday between 10am and 2pm.
Cadets and adult staff with the support of members of the island’s Army Reserve unit, the Jersey Field Squadron, will be running a number of activities designed to show what the ACF can offer young people.
Those activities will include military vehicles, command tasks, a low ropes course and army fieldcraft.
Jersey ACF has two detachments, one based at the Army Reserve Centre on Mount Bingham and another at Grainville School.
We’re recruiting young people aged over 12 but in at least year 8 at school as of September 2016.
Lt Chris Rayner, Le Quesne Detachment Commander, says: “We’re hoping to see as many young people as possible who may be considering joining Jersey’s newest cadet organisation. We offer boys and girls with a sense of adventure, the chance to learn more, do more and try more.”
Many of our activities have a military theme, but some have more of a community focus.
Chris added: “We’ve already achieved notable success in competitions with other cadet forces and play a central role in island events including Liberation Day and the recent Somme 100 Commemoration.”
