Almost 400 children aged between 5 and 11 years have entered Future Finance’s latest design competition to win £500 towards improving their primary school facilities.

Focused on the latest craze of communicating through emojis - ideograms and smileys used in electronic messaging - the impressive number of entries will be displayed at Future Finance’s offices on Broad Street on 19th, 20th and 21st July.

Children, parents, clients and members of the public are invited to view the entries between 10am and 5pm and, on the final day, the winner will be announced at 5.15pm.

The competition was created to encourage local school children to be creative by designing an emoji that represented improvements to their school or home, such as:

  • New facilitates - classrooms, gyms, swimming pools
  • Landscape gardening / playing field improvements
  • Paving, fencing
  • Extensions
  • New bathroom and kitchens

“We’ve been overwhelmed with the response from the schools. The skill and imagination of the children has been really encouraging and we are delighted to be able to show off our children’s talents by creating this display,” states Denny Lane, Co-Director and Founder at Future Finance.

His colleague, Craig Dempster, also a Co-Director and Founder of the business, adds: “Future Finance are a local business that likes to get involved in community activities. We wanted to include local children’s ideas in our marketing campaigns and thought the emoji design competition would spark their imagination. I’m really pleased by the number of entries and the quality of the designs.”

As well as winning £500 towards improvements at their school, the winner will have their emoji will feature in the Future Finance’s next advertising campaign, alongside the runners up.
