EY in the Channel Islands has appointed 22 trainee associates who will begin developing and shaping their careers whilst studying for a professional qualification.

During the first week the associates from Jersey and Guernsey joined together and attended an induction programme designed to deliver key messages and demonstrate how their role and EY’s business in the Channel Islands play a valuable part within the global firm. The week also included some fun and challenging team building activities as well as taking part in a corporate responsibility day.

Julie Bisson, EY’s Channel Islands Executive Director and People Leader said: “We have a strong commitment to our people, offering them a stimulating and challenging working environment and this begins on their first day. We appreciate the importance of offering both graduates and A-level students the opportunity to join our training programme.

“Our associates have studied a broad range of subjects at degree and A level but they all have a common goal which is to learn more about what we do and how we play an important part in shaping the business world.

“Each associate will shortly begin a professional training programme, either the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS). These highly regarded qualifications will take three years to complete and then many opportunities will open up for them to further their EY career depending on their aspirations, either on island or worldwide.”

“We have already begun recruiting for our 2015 and 2016 associate intakes. This really benefits the students as they have the reassurance that they have secured a job at EY allowing them to focus on their final year of studies.  We appreciate that choosing the right career is a big decision and that is why we encourage students to contact us for an informal chat to find out more about what we do.”
