Businesses that genuinely and effectively integrate environmental and social issues into business model strategies will be those that flourish and prosper in the long-term, when compared to the more traditional and corporate model. As the keynote speaker at the Durrell Business Breakfast next month, Prof. Ioannis Ioannou will expand on his expansive research into this area of corporate sustainability.

A tenured Associate Professor at the London Business School, with an Economics & Maths Degree from Yale and an MA & PhD from Harvard, Ioannou regularly publishes in top-tier, peer-reviewed academic journals. He is a frequent guest speaker on business sustainability at conferences across the world and was recently presented with the 2016 ARCS Emerging Sustainability Scholar Award. He said: ‘I am very much looking forward to my first visit to Jersey where I am delighted to be able to present my academic evidence regarding the significant long-term outperformance of organisations that really do place corporate social responsibility at the heart of their business. I’ll be reviewing the links between corporate sustainability and capital markets and how they relate to investment analyst recommendations and what that means for the value of a company’s public equity.’

Chris Blampied, Head of Banking at RBC Wealth Management, the Durrell Business Breakfast sponsors said: ‘We are absolutely thrilled to have someone of Prof. Ioannou’s calibre speaking. He is a leader in his field of sustainable business research and we, as a company, are committed to driving sustainability forward within our sector. Our new BREEAM rated Gaspé House office is just one example of how we are investing in the future of our business here in Jersey. I am sure it is going to be a fascinating and insightful event and hope that many of Island’s business community will come along.’

The Durrell Business Breakfast takes place on Friday 4 November 08.00-10.00hrs at the Pomme D’Or.
