A health and fitness professional with more than 15 years’ experience has established his own business.

Ian Potter has launched My Fitness which will offer fitness camps and personal training to all ages and fitness levels.

‘Most people will know me from my time as Director of Kings Life and since leaving there, I have been teaching sport, exercise and physiology at the College of Further Education. I have really enjoyed that but the time is right to go back to what is my true passion and I am excited at the response that I have had in the week since I launched,’ he said.

Mr Potter, who has represented the island at football, is highly regarded for his personal training work having trained Andy Priaulx and Jenson Button and was instrumental in establishing Guernsey’s first “boot camp” style group training sessions.

‘Fitness camps have become phenomenally successful in Guernsey and it’s great to see so many people training together, especially those who may not find a gym environment particularly appealing. All of the My Fitness camps will either be at KGV or using different outdoor locations around Guernsey as training out in the fresh air can be far more beneficial and appealing to many,’ he said.

‘Using what we have around us will be central to My Fitness’ approach, whether it’s group training or individuals but I can also offer personal training at people’s homes or at St Pierre Park Hotel should they prefer.’

Mr Potter said personal training had grown in popularity and was something that people of all ages and all fitness levels have embraced.

‘Lots of people go to the gym but it’s very easy to fall into a habit of doing the same thing, week in, week out and never really seeing any improvement. Personal training is individual depending on requirements and goals. The youngest person I have trained was a five year old and the oldest has been in their seventies and everything in between from top athletes through to people recovering from serious illness. That’s the benefit of using experienced, proven and qualified professionals – they deliver results.’

To celebrate the launch of My Fitness, Mr Potter is offering free fitness camps during the week of 28th April with early morning camps from 6.30am until 7.30am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and mid-morning camps starting at 9.30am on Tuesday and Thursday.

Launch offers are also available on various personal training packages including personal training sessions that can be shared by two individuals with the same goal at no additional cost.
