A student nurse from Guernsey is set to take part in a skydive over the island at the end of August to raise funds for the Emergency Ambulance Service.

Courtney Mollet who starts the final year of her nursing course in September is sharing money raised by the skydive between the ambulance service and Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief, in memory of her pop Steve and nephew Oscar.

Courtney said: “I would like to support the Emergency Ambulance Service because the staff work tirelessly around the clock to provide care and medical treatment to the community of Guernsey. Even on their days off many get called back to work during periods of high demand. As a student nurse, I find it very rewarding to be caring and helping others, so where possible I want to help out in order to give back in other ways.”

“A skydive has been on my bucket list for a while now. I just thought it would be an awesome, once in a lifetime experience and something that I would love to do one day. As well as doing it for the adrenaline rush, I decided to raise money for charity as an added incentive, which gives me more motivation to do it,” she added.

Emergency Ambulance Service, Head of Operations Dean de la Mare said: “We are very grateful to Courtney for choosing the St John Emergency Ambulance Service as one of her two charities. We are currently raising funds for additional AEDs and a Lucas CPR device, which is a piece of equipment that is used for patients in cardiac arrest that automatically delivers efficient chest compressions and which can be used in confined spaces or in a moving vehicle to improve patient care and reduce the risk of injury to ambulance crews.”
