The Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation is delighted to announce that Sara Edmonds has joined the PPBF family and agreed to become a PPBF Ambassador.
Sara works at Hautes Capelles Primary School in an emotional literacy role and is a long term foster carer.
Her niece, Lochie, was diagnosed with Lukaemia when she was just 18 months old in 2018. She and her family stayed in Aggies Burrow, one of a trio of PPBF's compassionate flats next to Southampton Hospital, for around 300 nights. Sara stayed in the PPBF's home-from-home whilst visiting her niece and knows first-hand how the PPBF helps families in our community.
"I saw the impact these flats have on families with a critically ill child. Having the hospital just steps away, gave them real comfort;" said Sara.
Lochie finally rang the bell in 2021 on Guernsey's Frossard Ward. Since then, Sara has strived to help the PPBF ensure other families benefit the same way.
With a passion for fundraising, Sara has arranged a few fundraising events for the PPBF in the past, the latest one being the successful Pre-Loved Ladies Night catwalk show last April which raised an incredible £5,000 for the PPBF.
Jo Priaulx, Co-Founder of the PPBF said; "We're really pleased that Sara has agreed to become a PPBF Ambassador. She's enthusiastic and will help enhance our fundraising capability and raise awareness of the charity's vital work, including our Buy-A-Night campaign. This helps provide comfortable nights for island families, of critically ill babies and children, staying in PPBF compassionate housing next to Southampton Hospital."
