Local digital agency Indulge Media has appointed Dan Ford to the role of website developer.

Mr Ford will help the team develop creative technical solutions to a range of client needs, as well as helping to run the agency’s Code Club sessions at Amherst School. He will work on a broad range of projects, from setting up and managing websites to creating responsive web application architecture.

Prior to joining Indulge Media, Mr Ford worked as turnover co-ordinator for Menzies Aviation developing keen attention to detail and gaining valuable experience in customer support. He completed his schooling at the Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre.

As part of his new role, Mr Ford will teach at Indulge Media’s Code Club sessions at Amherst School. Amherst’s after school coding class was established by Indulge Media as part of a UK-wide initiative to encourage digital professionals to run coding classes for primary school children.

There are currently over 1,000 Code Clubs operating in the UK but the Amherst Code Club is the first of its kind in the Channel Islands. The development team at Indulge take it in turns to teach weekly coding classes, with the third year of sessions starting this month and running through the school year.

Mr Ford said: “I have always been interested in technology and enjoyed the creativity that comes with working in the digital industry.

“I’m particularly looking forward to getting involved with the Code Club and passing on my enthusiasm for digital technology to the next generation. Digital skills open up a world of opportunities for young people and it’s important that local students know how to create technology as well as use it.”

Indulge Media director, Russell Isabelle, said: “Dan is a talented web developer and brings a fresh perspective to our digital team. Like every member of our team, Dan is happy to take on any digital challenge thrown his way and will help us continue to deliver amazing online experiences.

“As a young coder with a passion for technology he understands better than most the possibilities of digital technology and his enthusiasm and skills will be a great asset to the Code Club scheme. It is a really rewarding experience seeing the students engage with coding and programming so creatively and I’m pleased that we can continue this for a third year.”

Tracey Moore, head teacher of Amherst School, said that continuing the Code Club sessions for another year would allow more students to benefit from digital skills.

“The Code Club has provided our students with a fantastic opportunity to engage creatively with technology and learn skills outside of the standard curriculum. I am very pleased that we have the chance to continue the Club for another year and offer more students the opportunity to explore the possibilities of computer science.”
