Christmas songs were playing; the arts and crafts table in full swing; and there was an abundance of festive outfits being worn.
The Christmas season brings many reasons to celebrate and gather together and this year was no exception at the Home-Start Christmas Party.
The very generous Julius Baer sponsored the annual Home-Start Christmas Party, where 150 parents, carers, children and volunteers had an afternoon of fun. Steve Burt, Branch Manager of Julius Baer, said, ‘We were delighted to support the Home-Start Christmas party once again this year. As a business we are committed to supporting children in the local community. It was great to see so many children enjoying themselves, with the highlight being Santa’s Grotto’.
The families enjoyed activities such a decorating baubles to take home and hang on their Christmas tree, as well as having a go at ‘pin the carrot on the snowman’, participating in a dance competition, having their faces painted and of course meeting Father Christmas in the grotto!
The afternoon raised £350, which will be vital funds for Home-Start to continue their work supporting families. Since January 2021 Home-Start have had 959 attendees at the drop-in groups called Dragonflies. These groups offer parents and carers a chance to build networks whilst the children enjoy socialising, making crafts and having a story and rhyme time. Home-Start volunteers have also supported 23 families with individual one-to-one home visiting sessions.
Home-Start, Youth Commission would like to say a final thank you to everyone who came to the party and an extended special thanks to those that kindly donated their time and contributed to the raffle and tombola.
