St Martin’s Community Centre Hosts Fundraising Quiz Night and other fundraising venues
St Martin's Community Centre is set to become a hub of intellectual excitement on the 17th May as it hosts a thrilling Quiz Night in support of a group of adventurous young individuals embarking on a remarkable journey. This event promises an evening of brain-teasing fun while contributing to a noble cause.
The Quiz Night aims to raise funds for a group of dynamic young people who are gearing up for an exhilarating challenge; a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) Silver Sailing Expedition scheduled for October. All the boys are involved with The Guernsey Sailing Trust as Assistant Instructors and Dingy Instructors where they volunteer and work on a regular basis. For their expedition, the boys will be sailing a 38ft sailboat around Bailiwick waters, before crossing the English Channel and sailing along the south coast of England.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has long been recognized for its role in empowering young individuals, fostering leadership skills, and promoting a spirit of adventure. By participating in this expedition, these young sailors are not only testing their mettle on the high seas but also gaining invaluable experience that will shape their futures.
The quiz night offers an opportunity for the community to come together in support of these aspiring adventurers. Teams will pit their wit against each other in a friendly competition, answering trivia questions, participants can expect a diverse range of questions to challenge their quizzical prowess.
The funds raised from the Quiz Night will directly contribute to the expense associated with the DofE Silver Sailing Expedition including their training, practice and qualifying expeditions and logistical arrangements. Every contribution, whether through participation in the quiz or donations, will make a meaningful difference in emabling these young sailors to reach new heights.
The Quiz Night at St Martin’s Community Centre promises an evening of entertainment and camaraderie. Individuals and teams alike are encouraged to join in the fun and show their support for this admirable cause.
