After being missing from the Guernsey Eisteddfod display for a couple of years, the Guernsey Eisteddfod society are delighted to announce that the Floral Section is back for the society’s Centenary display.

If you are creative and enjoy arranging a bunch of flowers make sure you consider entering the upcoming 2022 Eisteddfod. Categories are based on CELEBRATION and include a novice arrangement called Our Bailiwick especially for new comers to the Eisteddfod in its 100th year. There are also classes on a variety of themes such as; Guernsey Eisteddfod 100, Platinum Jubilee or Diversity, and in the junior section Mardi Gras is one exhibit title.

You can see full details and entry form on their web site www.guernseyeisteddfod.com and Facebook, or collect a copy of the full syllabus from regular outlets; St Peter's Post Office, Stitches on the Bridge, Lexicon and Guille-Alles Library in town.

Syllabus 2022 gives details of fees and date to enter for all Eisteddfod Festival events.

Linda Armstead, Executive Officer Floral Section, said "We would really like to promote the floral section of our Eisteddfod, since flowers and growing are such a huge part of Guernsey’s heritage. There has been a big gap in the last few Eisteddfods with no flowers. We would encourage anyone who enters the North, West or South Show floral art sections to challenge themselves in this Bailiwick wide event.

"To encourage the widest possible take up the flower section has made some amendments to the published ‘Rules’. Exhibits may be brought ready to stage on either Monday 25th March 2022 from 2 pm onwards or on Tuesday 26th March 2022 8.30 am - 10 pm, before judging.

"Because some people may find it difficult to get to the Grammar School to register with their entry form and entrance fees we are accepting entries by post to the above address to arrive no later than 28 February 2022. (This will need to include both entry form and fees).

"By making these amendments we hope to make it easy and simple to take part while also pre-empting any Covid 19 requirements that may still be in place at the time.

"Wishing you every success, and a fun time making your flower arrangement."
