Carey Olsen Senior Associate, Alison MacKrill, has been given a Founder's Award for Outstanding Achievement from the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners (STEP).

Now in their sixth year, the awards take place annually and recognise individuals whose long-term contribution to the society has gone above and beyond what is expected of a member.

The 2014 winners were announced at the AGM in Miami on 5 November and Mrs MacKrill was included alongside five other individuals from STEP chapters across the world. Mrs MacKrill is a senior associate in the Carey Olsen trust and fiduciary practice in Guernsey and specialises in trustee advisory work, employee share schemes, pension arrangements, commercial trusts and private client work. Mrs MacKrill has been recognised as a leader in her field by Citywealth since 2006 and is listed in the 2013 Who's Who Legal: Private Clients.

She writes regularly on trust matters in legal publications and lectures on trust issues in Guernsey and elsewhere. She is also immediate past chairman of STEP’s

Guernsey branch. STEP Guernsey chairman, Paul Hodgson, said: “The Guernsey Branch Committee nominated Alison to receive this prestigious award on the strength of her commitment to the Branch since joining in 2003. In particular, she served as Branch Chairman for six years where she oversaw a very active programme of events and provided strong leadership. “Alison is a staunch advocate of the society and, through her high levels of professionalism, technical expertise and integrity, she sets an example for all members.”
