Local PR agency, Black Vanilla is celebrating the success of its hedge stall launched earlier this year, helping to raise over £500 in four months for local charities.
The hedge stall, which is located outside of the agency’s office on The Grange in St Peter Port, supports local growers, makers and bakers by offering them a location with high footfall to sell their products and raise money for a local charity of their choice.
The hedge stall has been connected by JT Guernsey, which donated a phone with a sim card and data, allowing the stall to have contactless payments alongside the traditional hedge veg cash box option. The stall has supported 11 local charities over four months, providing various local products including fudge, cupcakes, books and puzzles, sustainable gifts and stocking fillers for Christmas.
Director of Black Vanilla, Nichole Culverwell, said: ‘Hedge stalls are a great Guernsey tradition and we are pleased with the response to the stall and how many charities we have helped in such a short period of time. Many small businesses have been incredibly generous with donating a decent portion of their profits to a number of great charities in Guernsey.
‘There were so many different charities that we wanted to support and the stall has allowed us to help as many charities as possible, whilst supporting local businesses during what has been an incredibly tough couple of years.’
Following the success of the hedge stall this year, Black Vanilla will be continuing the scheme in 2022.
