“The Healthcare Group have generously donated around £3,000 worth of first aid training equipment to The Bailiwick of Guernsey Scout Association. This equipment – which includes a training AED, choking simulation vests, and the latest adult and child CPR manikins that are able provide live feedback as to the quality of the compressions – will enable the newly formed Bailiwick First Aid Training Team to deliver quality and up-to-date training to Adult Leaders and Young People.
“Quality first aid training is essential for the safety and well-being of the Young People in Scouting. The Bailiwick is committed to delivering this in a timely and effective manner by forming their own local training team.
“When the Team met at the beginning of the year, to plan how this vision could be implemented, it was identified that they were lacking in essential training equipment.Helen Bull, a Cub Scout Leader and Practice Nurse for the Healthcare Group, decided to approach her management team for a donation to support the Scout’s venture. The Healthcare Group jumped at the chance to provide this much needed equipment.
“The donation forms what the Healthcare Group hope will be the start of a long-lasting relationship between the Scout Association and the Healthcare group. Dr Ed Partridge hopes that in the future the Healthcare Group may be able to offer essential health-related education to the Scouts. He cannot put more emphasis on how the Healthcare Group wish to support the Young People of our Island community.
“For 113 years, the Scout Association has been providing Young People on the island with opportunities to develop life-changing skills such as leadership, independence and teamwork, with its unique brand of adventure and informal education – and continues to do so today.
“Without valuable support from the wider community, this could not happen!”
