This year marks the 75th Anniversary of George Orwell’s famous novel, ‘Animal Farm’. To mark this milestone, Elizabeth College pupils will be bringing his timeless classic to life in the College Hall on Wednesday 29th to Friday 31st January (inclusive) 2020.
Rehearsals commenced in September, and the cast has been working incredibly hard to capture the essence of the novel, and the themes it raises.
“We decided to take on Animal farm as this year’s whole school Drama production as it is the 75th anniversary of the novel. Students from across the whole school have been involved bringing the animals of Manor Farm to life and we have employed a wide range of drama techniques to make sure every cast member is involved and onstage throughout the whole production.
It has been great fun and hard work as the cast multirole pigs, horses, donkeys, large scale battle scenes, unusual pigeons and, their favourite, chickens. The cast has really learned the importance of ensemble work to bring this show to life. ‘Animal Farm’ is such a powerful and important book, and we are thrilled to be bringing it to life on stage.” – Mat Walters, Head of Drama.
The play opens at 7pm on Wednesday 29th January to Friday 31st January inclusive.
