Skipton shortlisted at PR awards

Wednesday 27 July 2022

Skipton’s campaign for the Swimarathon in 2021 has been shortlisted by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations as a finalist at its annual PRide awards.

The national awards are prestigious in the industry and celebrate the achievements of communications professionals throughout the year.

The awards are divided into regions and Skipton’s entry forms part of the South of England and Channel Islands region. There is one other Guernsey finalist - Black Vanilla - and none from Jersey.

Skipton is the sponsor of the annual Swimarathon, one of the island's most popular and largest annual community and fundraising events.

The Swimarathon is organised by the Lions Clubs and Round Table of Guernsey. Skipton supports the event with a range of services, including PR, marketing, website maintenance and other operational support.

Julie Todd, PR Manager at Skipton, was delighted to learn of the nomination.

"I send my congratulations to everyone in the sector across the region who has been shortlisted in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations PRide Awards. I’m absolutely thrilled that the Skipton PR team has made the shortlist," she said.

"Public relations is an often-misunderstood profession. It’s most certainly not the case of typing a few media releases. Campaigns need to be carefully planned, written and targeted, and the success of the annual Skipton Swimarathon is partly due to the research and planning undertaken months in advance, in order to engage with the Guernsey public."

The South of England and Channel Islands CIPR PRide awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 13 October.
