Plans revealed for former Post Office

Monday 09 October 2023

The upper floors of the former Post Office on Smith Street could be redeveloped with open plan offices, meeting rooms and breakout spaces.

There will also be a restaurant on the ground floor - being planned by Sam Jarrold, the owner of Hook and Fukku.

The ’Upper House’ building dates back to 1883 and its redevelopment will be PSO’s first project in conjunction with Field Day, a design-led property development company with a property portfolio across the UK and Guernsey.

Alex Belcher, Founder and Managing Director of Polygon Serviced Offices said he is "extremely excited about our latest project".

"Collaborating with Field Day has been an intuitive partnership as we both share the same vison and values of delivering high-quality, well-designed spaces built with the end user in mind, without compromising on flexibility and user-friendliness.

"Our plans for Upper House are all in the detail and finishes, making it an attractive place to work and offering calm surroundings for break-out and social spaces. The space has been approached with the new landscape of businesses re-thinking their environments, confirming that the office is certainly not dead if the environment is right."

Polygon and Field Day will work with Colin Smith Partnership, Axis Mason Architects, Ravenscroft Construction and C8 Mechanical and Electrical amongst others with an aim of opening the new facility next spring.

"Breathing new life into these socially and architecturally significant buildings is more important than ever. Our vision for Upper House is to seamlessly blend its rich heritage with the demands of today's dynamic workforce," said Mr Belcher.
