New Year appointments at Citizens Advice

Friday 10 January 2020

The Guernsey branch of a leading national charity has marked the start of a new decade with two new key staff appointments.

Kerry Ciotti has been given the role of Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Advice Guernsey, with Ali Marquis joining as the new Deputy CEO.

The charity has a management team of four part-time, paid staff alongside around 80 volunteers, including the Friends of Citizens Advice.

Mrs Ciotti, who served as Deputy CEO for 11 years, commented: "I'm really delighted to have been given this opportunity to lead Citizens Advice Guernsey. I'd never really thought of myself heading up the team but I think my experience as Deputy will be helpful in taking Citizens Advice forward into this new decade.

"It's a new chapter and I'm very excited.

"What gives me the confidence to step up into this role is the team we have here. We have a dynamic and supportive Management Committee and it's a real privilege to work with volunteers who provide a much-needed service to so many islanders. Also, the Friends' vital fundraising work though their shop never ceases to amaze me. I feel very proud to be responsible for such a terrific team.

Mrs Marquis was formerly Personnel and Training Manager of Guernsey's Social Security Department, before becoming Deputy Director of HR in the Health Department. She also brings more than 10 years of experience of working in the charitable sector.

"I'm so pleased to have joined Citizens Advice Guernsey, which feels like a great fit for me," she said. "I"ve always been drawn towards helping people, which is exactly what this charity does day in, day out. Life is becoming increasingly complex and I hope that my experience and personnel skills will help Citizens Advice to face the challenges of a new decade."

Citizens Advice Guernsey can be found along Bridge Avenue in St Sampson's. It is open on weekdays and trained advisers can also be contacted by phone on 242266.
