Ladies' College shortlisted for 'Disruptor of the Year'

Ladies' College has been shortlisted for Disruptor of the Year at the Véyaon awards.

The awards aim to acknowledge organisations that challenge the status quo and introduce groundbreaking initiatives.

For its work redefining educational norms and empowering young women through innovative learning approaches, the College was nominated for 'Disruptor of the Year', facing competition from Stage Portal and UniteVerse.

Over the past year, the College has implemented several programmes including adding advanced technology into the curriculum to enhance interactive learning, such as designing a bespoke AI course with University College London, and launching programmes that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and business acumen among students.

They have also introduced collaboration with local organisations to provide real-world experiences through its new Pathways parallel curriculum.

The Véyaon Awards celebrate innovation and entrepreneurial spirit within Guernsey, recognising individuals and organisations that are making significant strides in their respective fields.

Daniele Harford-Fox, Principal of The Ladies' College, said they were "thrilled" to have been shortlisted.

"Being shortlisted for the 'Disruptor of the Year' award is a testament to our dedicated staff and ambitious students who continually strive to push boundaries.

"In education, we spend a lot of time trying to minimise disruption. But not all disruption is created equal. Disruption for the purpose of challenge or re-examination feels vital, particularly in moments of change.

"We believe in fostering an environment where innovation thrives, and this recognition inspires us to continue making a positive impact in education."

Hosted by the Digital Greenhouse, the awards ceremony on Thursday 21 November will bring together leading figures from various industries to celebrate achievements that contribute to the island's growth and development.
