Julius Baer appoints new relationship manager

Tuesday 05 June 2018

Continued growth for Julius Baer in Guernsey has led to the appointment of Robert Pickford as a relationship manager in its Private Banking team.

Qualified as a chartered wealth manager with a first class honours degree in economics, Mr Pickford joins the private bank with 12 years’ investment management experience.

In his previous position at a local wealth management firm he looked after advisory and discretionary portfolios and sat on a number of investment committees responsible for the selection of UK, European and US equities.  With broad investment experience, Mr Pickford brings a deep understanding of global financial markets.

At Julius Baer, Mr Pickford will be responsible for meeting the wealth management needs of a portfolio of Channel Island and UK based clients.

Stephen Burt, branch manager of Julius Baer’s Guernsey office, said: “Our growth strategy is progressing well with the continued recruitment of highly skilled people in Guernsey.

"We are confident that Robert’s experience and expertise will strengthen our offering and ensure we continue to provide excellent service levels to our local and international clients.”

Mr Pickford added: “After meeting the Private Banking team at Julius Baer I understood their clear focus on wealth management.  Not only does the team benefit from global research and a top credit rating but, more importantly, it has a forward-thinking mindset and strong team ethos which my investment experience will complement.”

Since 1989 when Julius Baer first established a presence in Guernsey, the private bank has delivered sustained growth.  It now employs over 100 people on the island and continues to expand.
