Healthspan has been given the Community Champion award by local Environmental and Social Impact Monitor (ESI Monitor) for the work it did in the Guernsey community throughout 2019.

The Community Champion award demonstrates Healthspan’s "commitment to the community through their time spent volunteering and donations to local causes".

The business was recognised because it gave financial donations such as playground equipment to Amherst Primary School, sponsoring the Guernsey Christmas Lights Switch On, the Guernsey Photography Sunken Gardens exhibitions and the Saffrey Rotary Walk.

Healthspan’s employees contributed 200 hours over 2019 to charities such as Guernsey Welfare, Pick It Up Guernsey and Macmillan Cancer, among other organisations. They also gave in kind donations such as product hampers for raffle prizes, flea and worming products sent to Dogs Paws Aid in Romania and Caffeine Gum sent to annual run partakers locally and in the UK.

Rachel Raven, Executive Projects & Corporate Responsibilities Manager at Healthspan, said: “Keeping engaged with the local community is at the heart of what Healthspan represents. Guernsey is instilled into Healthspan values and Derek founded the company on the core values of positive thinking, healthy eating and an active lifestyle, these were all influenced by this beautiful island.

“With or without this accreditation, Healthspan would not slow down supporting our island community.  We are honoured to receive this award by ESI Monitor which helps show the community our continued commitment to the island."

Fred Betley, Sustainability Advisor at ESI Monitor, added: “Healthspan’s commitment to community support and their desire to improve in this field is extremely heartening. They are a leader in corporate responsibility and they deserve to be rewarded for giving back and moving forward.”
