Guernsey Electricity appoints new Head of HR

Monday 05 November 2018

Guernsey Electricity has appointed a new Head of HR with more than 20 years of consulting experience in creating high performing organisations.

Chris Watkin joins Guernsey Electricity from a leading global HR Consultancy, Hay Group, based in the UK, where he took the role of Global Expertise Leader, accountable for the transformation of the company’s consulting offer and people capabilities.

He also sat on the firm’s UK Board for five years, as Performance and Talent Director.

In his new role, Mr Watkin will be responsible for creating a high performing environment to enable Guernsey Electricity to realise its ambitions as a business, both in its service to customers and in realising the potential of its people. He will represent the views of the whole work force and ensure decisions are made with the long-term interests of the whole business in mind, not just individual elements.

"Guernsey Electricity is an exciting business to be in. Energy transition is at the crux of important developments effecting the islands future and Guernsey Electricity is leading the way on environmental, solar and electric vehicle initiatives. It’s an exciting employer to join - now more than ever – the future is electric," Mr Watkin said.

Alan Bates, Chief Executive of Guernsey Electricity, added: "We are delighted to have Chris onboard. The business is going through a period of change to prepare for the future in energy generation and demand, which presents a number of risks and opportunities.

"Chris will be key to establishing a supportive environment for our people, one that is adaptable, invests in new skills and builds on the case for change. With a belief that all people matter, I’m confident Chris will be a real asset to our team."
