GSC appoints new Netball Development Officer

Thursday 19 August 2021

The Guernsey Sports Commission has announced the appointment of Amy Fallaize as the island’s new Netball Development Officer.

"The Commission has been working with Guernsey Netball over the last year on an exciting development plan for the sport and Amy’s appointment is a key part of being able to deliver that plan," said Steve Sharman, the Commission’s Relationship Director.

“We were really pleased to be able to attract a private sponsor to cover part of Amy’s salary and that of our new Boxing Development Officer and a Cycling Development Officer we are looking to appoint shortly.”

Funding for the appointment also comes from Guernsey Netball and the Guernsey Sports Commission.

“I would really love to be part of someone else’s journey into the sport”

Amy is looking forward to her new challenge.

“I’m really excited about helping netball get more people involved in the sport at all levels,” she said.

“There have been lots of positive conversations already and I’m really keen to encourage those who have never played to give it a go and to also attract people back into netball who may have played before but who have given up for whatever reason.

“It’s a really exciting time for Guernsey netball so it’s a great time for me to come on board and be part of the next positive steps.

“Netball has always been my main sport/ I’ve had some amazing role models through Guernsey netball and I would really love to be part of someone else’s journey into the sport.”

Amy is already making plans for boosting numbers of under 11 players, as well as looking at more accessible forms of the game, such as walking netball.
