GROW “within touching distance” of final £500,000 target

Wednesday 10 August 2022

GROW is close to beating its fundraising challenge, thanks to two donations totalling £75,000 received in 24 hours.

The charity’s redevelopment campaign patrons, Guy and Julia Hands, pledged £125,000 if the charity could raise £375,000 by the end of August. The final £500,000 would see it reach it’s £3m. fundraising total.

The Bailiwick Trust donated £50,000 to help meet the Hands’ challenge. Trustee, John Le Prevost, said GROW represents the values of the trust.

“The Trust was established back in 1983 by an adventurous gentleman who took pride in helping others to help themselves, be that academically or sportingly, and which helps enhance the character of each individual involved,” he said.

“Supporting GROW does just that; the training opportunities provided for the Crew are not just helping them to gain employment they are mentored in life and personal skills giving them confidence and self-esteem.”

Within 12 hours of the Bailiwick Trust donation, GROW received a donation of £25,000 from another local trust. The £25,000 adds to an initial donation of £100,000 already received from the same trust.

GROW Director, Marguerite Talmage, said: “We are extremely grateful to the trustees of both organisations as well as to the many businesses and individuals who are helping us meet the challenge. We are now working flat out to raise the final £130,000 before the end of the month."

The funds will be used in the redevelopment of GROW’s vinery site in the Coutanchez, which will provide a state-of-the-art training facility where the GROW Crew, adults with learning disabilities or difficulties, can learn both occupational, and life and personal skills, equipping many of them for employment in commercial sectors.
