Deloitte economist is first speaker of the year

Tuesday 16 January 2024

The first IoD breakfast event of the year kicks off with a talk from Deloitte’s Chief Economist discussing the current economic outlook for the UK.

Ian Stewart, also a partner, advises on market developments and introduced the quarterly survey of CFOs in Britain, regularly contributing economic insights to the British media.

He previously worked at Merrill Lynch, advised the ministry for social security, and worked with CCHQ and the CBI.

He will be joined by Richard Hemans, economic lead for Guernsey’s IoD branch, to give the latest local perspective.

The breakfast event, taking place on 26 January, will also welcome a new headline sponsor – Skipton International – for the year.

Glen Tonks, Chair of IoD Guernsey, said “the webinar is a great opportunity for Guernsey’s leaders to hear from a high-profile and knowledgeable off-island speaker, who I'm sure will be sharing some great insight and expertise on the UK economy”.

Nigel Pascoe, Skipton’s Director of Business Development, said: This strategic collaboration symbolises our mutual commitment to nurturing Guernsey’s economic growth, promoting the spirit of good business connections, and ensuring continued excellence within the local branch of the IoD."

Glen Tonks, Chair of IoD Guernsey, said: "We’re looking forward to working with Skipton and we are grateful for their support. They’ve been a great help so far and we look forward to flourishing the partnership."

You can sign up for the webinar online.
