£50k raised for CI hospices

The Jacksons Group has raised more than £50K to support the work of hospices across Guernsey and Jersey.

The Group decided to make a monetary donation for every vehicle sold onwards to Les Bourgs Hospice and Jersey Hospice Care earlier this year. Customers were invited to match it with their own personal donation.

It was hoped that £60,000 could be raised each year this way – equivalent to the cost of a nurse within the in-patients unit – but this figure has nearly been realised in just four months.

General Manager of Jacksons Channel Islands, Andrew said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the amount raised in just the first four months of this initiative. We are tracking well ahead of beating our annual target of £120,000 across the two islands.

“We have had incredible support from our customers to this campaign with islanders donating over £10,000 and the rest coming from our car sales donations. Every penny of the £50,115 we have raised so far will go directly towards supporting islanders and their families.”

Jo Boyd MBE, Director of Les Bourgs Hospice added: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone involved and thank Jacksons for choosing us to be the beneficiary of this inspired initiative”.
