HSC has confirmed some routine screening programmes have resumed.
"In response to COVID-19, HSC initially restricted imaging activity to only providing examinations that were declared clinically urgent by the referrer. This week we have expanded services to a slightly broader group of patients, including those with known conditions that need to be monitored.
"Those who have been invited have been asked whether they would like to attend or defer their examination a while longer. Those who have opted to attend have all been asked about their risk factors with regard to either having COVID-19 or whether that are in an “at risk” group.
"Some patients have been offered appointments which to them might be “routine” in terms of being a “routine follow-up”, but imaging of new referrals which are categorised as “routine” have yet to be reintroduced.
"New invitations to participate in Breast & Bowel screening, as well as Bone Densitometry were suspended in March but these services will be re-introduced as soon as safe to do so, and of course, in line with guidance from Public Health."
Please note that cervical screening and recall is managed through Primary Care so we are unable to comment on that aspect.
