The Guille-Allès Library will open its doors again on Thursday 4 June.
The Library will be open from 10am - 3pm this Thursday and Friday, and the same from Monday to Friday next week. Visitors will be able to borrow books, DVDs, and other items from the collection, and return what they’ve got at home, all while observing social distancing.
Some services will remain suspended for the time being, including events, children’s activities, newspapers and magazines, and study space, while only one person per household will be able to visit at a time.
Laura Milligan, Chief Librarian, said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming people back to the Library. Some creative thinking has been needed to enable social distancing in our characterful old building, but thanks to a real team effort we are now at a point where we are ready to open the doors. We’d like to thank everyone for their patience as we all work towards the ‘new normal’.”
During lockdown the Library has been running a free home delivery service, delivering bundles of books, DVDs and jigsaws to hundreds of households. This service will continue in Phase 4 for the benefit of people shielding. Anyone shielding can request a free delivery at www.library.gg/deliveries or by phoning 720392.
