The Court of Alderney is continuing to operate during the current Covid 19 situation, however we are taking steps to minimise the risk of infection to the staff and the public using the Court service.
Wherever possible we are requesting that Court users refrain from attending the Court office in person. Our telephone lines are staffed during normal working hours. Guidance and assistance can also be obtained ar the Court website and by email. Our contact details are below.
Court hearings
Court hearings are continuing and if you have been summonsed or are on bail then you continue to be required to attend, unless you are advised by a Court official to the contrary. If you are unable to attend a Court hearing then please contact the Court office or your Advocate for further guidance. Where possible your hearing may take place by video conferencing or by other means.
Land and Company Registry
The Land and Company Registry functions continue to operate. Wherever possible you are asked to make enquiries by email or telephone. Documents and information can be provided to you electronically.
If you are submitting completed forms, then please place them in the post box on the main entrance door - it will be regularly checked and any documents lodged processed.
Birth, Marriages and Death
The BMD registry continues to operate. For births in Guernsey, paperwork and guidance will be supplied to you at the Loveridge Ward. For on Island births please contact the Court office and we will arrange to send registration forms to you.
Registering deaths will continue to be dealt with by the undertaker with whom the Court has been in contact with.
If you are planning a marriage, please contact the Court office to discuss arrangements.
Other matters
Unfortunately for the foreseeable period we are no longer offering a service of providing certified copy documents unless it is solely for the Court of Alderney's purposes.
The Court is regularly cleaned, including all surfaces and door handles and handwashing facilities are available for those attending the Court building.
This advice will be reviewed and periodically updated.
