“We’ll put things right” - Scott reacts to Wolves loss on debut

Alex Scott has issued a rallying cry to the Bournemouth fans after making his Premier League debut in a loss against Wolves.

Scott became the first Guernseymen to play in the top flight since Matt Le Tissier, who retired in 2002.

The £25m. midfielder was substituted on 57 minutes as part of a reshuffle following Lewis Cook’s dismissal.

Wolves went on to win 2-1.

“Proud moment Stick with us, we’ll put things right,” said Scott on X, formerly known as Twitter, after the match.

He has been on the sidelines with a knee injury since signing from Bristol City in August.

Head coach Andoni Iraola had contemplated using Scott as a substitute against Wolves, but decided it was more beneficial for the team and player for him to start.

“We knew that he couldn't play 90 minutes. Our plan was like this, play 45.

“He was doing well, maybe 55, 60, something like this at most. That's what we thought.

“I could go, probably to play second half, 30 minutes with him (off the bench).

“But also I think sometimes with injuries I prefer that they warm up with the team.

“They have a proper warm up, not they are alone there and they don't know when they go.

“And then we prefer to go like this because I feel we need this kind of player in the middle.

“He gave us, I think, some energy. He gave us good transitions covering the ball, and I think it's going to be a good addition for the team.”

Scott picked up a yellow card towards the end of the first half.

The Cherries have yet to pick a Premier League win.

Dominic Solanke’s 17th minute strike was cancelled out shortly after the restart by a Matheus Cunha goal, before Cook’s red card left Bournemouth facing a deluge of Wolves attacks.

Substitute Sasa Kalajdzic popped up two minutes from time to give Gary O'Neil a win over his former employers.
