Heather Watson fell at the first hurdle in her bid to qualify for the Australian Open.
She missed out on the main draw for the second year running after losing in straight sets to Switzerland’s Lulu Sun.
Watson, seeded 27th in qualifying, lost 6-4, 6-3 in the first round, and will now look to the doubles for success.

Fellow Bits Harriet Dart and Fran Jones made it one step closer to the main draw, beating Nuria Brancaccio (6-2,7-6) and Margaux Rouvroy (6-2, 6-4) respectively.
