Thursday 09 November 2023

Guernsey are out of the Isthmian Women's League Cup after a 2-1 defeat by Bognor Regis Town.

They fell behind to a Millie Carter goal on 12 minutes, before Georgina Starkey doubled the hosts advantage in the second half.

But Green Lionesses captain Candice Bougourd gave them hope late on with an 87th minute effort.

It came after substitute Sian Butt entered the fray for her debut and nearly immediately won a penalty as she tried to bring the ball down in the box.

The resultant injury meant Butt was forced to leave the pitch.

Bougourd's initial penalty was saved but she was first to the rebound to hit home.

Guernsey pressed for the equaliser in the second round tie, with both Scarlett Kenneally and Code Le Flem having good chances they could not put away.
