The Green Lions hopes of matching last season’s points tally were extinguished as they fell 3-2 to Footes Lane visitors' Hartley Wintney, in their final home game of the season.
Guernsey FC were already safe going into last night’s Isthmian South Central clash, but manager Tony Vance was keen their performances did not fall off in the same way they did last year.
Hartley Wintney took the lead in the 38th minute when CJ Fearn put the ball in from close range.
They doubled that advantage when Mason Obeng headed in on 55 minutes, but just four minutes later the Green Lions were back in the game.
Sam Murray fired in from close range, his fifth goal in five games.
But it was not long before Hartley re-established their two goal cushion, a smart Sam Bartlett finish beating Josh Addison at his near post.
A late goal from Dave Rihoy gave GFC
