Summer tournament ends in win for EY

Wednesday 08 November 2023

A lighthearted inter firm tournament saw staff from the 'Big Four' accounting firms try their hand at basketball, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, and bowls.

The summer tournament came to a close in September with shared honours in the different events but EY taking the overall title based on the cumulative scores.

The four firms each agreed to host one sporting event with scores being accumulated on a league board, contributing to the overall winner.

PwC hosted the ultimate frisbee tournament, KPMG hosted basketball, EY hosted lawn bowls, and Deloitte hosted dodgeball.

The final results saw EY crowned the winner of both ultimate frisbee and bowls, KPMG the champion of basketball and Deloitte winning the dodgeball.

With each point won counting towards the final places, this resulted in PwC taking third place in the league table, Deloitte and KPMG came joint second, and EY were crowned champions at the awards ceremony in October.

Viviane Kemgne, Assistant Manager from Deloitte, said they've already agreed to run the event again.

"I’m really pleased that everyone was keen to repeat the tournament, because last year was so much fun and this year didn’t disappoint either. It’s great to have some friendly competition with the other big firms on the island, and it gives us all a chance to try our hand at something new.

"We’re already counting down until next year!"
