Rugby: U14 girls bring home one win in first away festival

Tuesday 16 April 2024

The Guernsey Rugby Academy U14 girls headed to London Irish RFC for their first fixtures away.

A squad of 10 were at the Middlesex Emeralds International Girls Festival, where they played four games.

Guernsey brought home a win over the Oxford/Windsor team, with three tries scored by Izzy Richmond.

Coach, Justeen Melbourne, said: “It’s brilliant to get the girls some game time and for them to put all their hard work into practice. They had so much fun and at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.”

The girls take on Jersey in this weekend’s Junior Siam Cup.

Melbourne added: “The girls are really excited to be back playing this weekend, they’ve been building up to the Siam all season, and we’re looking forward to having a home fixture to demonstrate just how far they’ve come.”

The U14 and U16 girls will play Jersey this Saturday at 11:30am on the GRFC Club pitch at Footes Lane.
