A group of 16 indoor bowlers are travelling to the UK to compete in the Professional Bowls Association qualifiers.

The tournament sees bowlers from all over the UK and further afield competing for places in the World Bowls Tour Indoor Bowls Championships, held at Potters Resort Hopton-On-Sea in January.

On Saturday from 08:30 they will play at Dolphin Indoor Bowls Club in Poole in the World Indoor Singles Qualifiers.

The group consists of Ali Merrien, Ian Merrien, Dave King, Kris Lowe, Nicole Le Noury, Bradley Le Noury, Steve Le Noury, Martyn de Carteret, Michelle de Carteret, Dave Jeffery, Josh Bonsall, Catherine Bonsall, Dan de la Mare, Kris Bichard, Shaun Bichard and ex-Island player Jon Queripel who currently lives in the UK.

Jason Greenslade has already qualified for the championships thanks to being ranked inside the Top 16 men.

Greenslade has tasted success in the competition before, taking the open pairs title in 2017 while representing Wales.

Ali Merrien won the World Indoor Women's Singles title in 2011.

On Sunday from 09:00 different combinations join forces in the World Indoor Pairs Qualifiers.

They are: Ali Merrien and Ian Merrien, Kris Lowe and Jon Queripel, Dave King and Martyn de Carteret, Nicole Le Noury and Michelle de Carteret, Steve Le Noury and Dave Jeffery, Dan de la Mare and Kris Bichard, Bradley Le Noury and Shaun Bichard, and Josh Bonsall and Catherine Bonsall.

The competitions are knock-out style, which means each single or pair will need to win their game to advance to the next round, to be in with a chance of qualifying.

Some games will be live streamed on YouTube under "About A Yard" and the Guernsey Indoor Bowling Association Facebook page will be kept up to date with the latest results.
