Guernsey Raiders Ladies maintain their perfect start with hard fought Dorking win

Wednesday 23 October 2024

Guernsey Raiders Ladies have got their league campaign underway with two contrasting victories.

Having opened with a 66-0 dismantling of Worthing Warriors on the road, they faced Dorking on the Footes Lane Club Pitch in the Women’s NC 2 South East (South).

The visitors came in on a good run of form, having already put two big wins on the board themselves.

And it was as predicted a tight affair, with Raiders coming out on top with a narrow 33-31 win.

"We knew it was going to be a tough game going into it, Dorking had some strong results in their first few games of the season, but the ladies were focused on the job that needed doing," coach Steve Evans told the Raiders' website.

"I think anyone watching would say it was a very exciting game, Dorking were leading in the first half, but we were able to bring it back in the second."

In the end with both sides scoring five tries, it was a Liv Kenneally conversion which separated them by the end.

Guernsey's tries came from Aideen Le Prevost (3), Daisy Travers and Zoe Collins.

"They showed real team spirit and resilience, I was very proud of the performance, it was a good win against a tough team."

Guernsey Raiders Ladies next game is away against top of the table and fellow unbeaten side Seaford Scarletts on 24 November.
