The Green Lions have suffered another disappointing setback, this time a 3-3 draw against Ascot United.
Despite taking a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime, they conceded three late goals to let the victory slip away. This is the latest in a series of matches where Guernsey have dropped points from winning positions.
Guernsey had dominated the first half, scoring three goals, two from Matt Loaring, and one from Ross Allen. However, Ascot United mounted a strong comeback in the second half, scoring three goals in the final 15 minutes, with their equaliser coming in the final moments of the match.
The Green Lions sit 20th in the Isthmian South Central League, above Ashford Town on goal difference, but below Metropolitan Police FC.
In their last outing against Moneyfield, they ended up on the wrong side of a nine goal thrilled, losing 4 - 5, despite a 3 - 1 lead at the break, and before that they slumped to a 4 - 1 loss to Uxbridge. The last win for Guernsey FC came on the 9th of November, against Hanworth Villa.
All three of those sides are chasing the top of the table, although runaway Farnham Town (1st - 50 Points), and (Kingstonian (2nd - 44 Points) have a commanding gap to the rest in the run up to Christmas and the New Year.
The Green Lions are next in action this Saturday (21 December) at home against South Park (Reigate), with kick of at 2pm.
